Water

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit."

Jeremiah 17:8,9

I feel:

Anger
Disgust
Frustration
Indignation

Over what I've had to go through today.
Grr.
Surely I don't deserve this.
Why am I the only one with all these problems?
And for the record,
I am not in a good mood.

Over the next few days, I've got to:

  1. Move fifty percent of my worldly possessions into my room
  2. Patch up any missing furniture
  3. (Attempt to) Decorate my room
  4. Move into my room and actually stay there
  5. Wait for life science module allocation results
  6. BID!!! for a certain module I desperately want
  7. Piece together a timetable
  8. Remember to attend the module/ program talks I'm 'strongly urged' to go for
  9. Meet up with my OG mates (:
  10. Meet up with my liebe lovers (: (:
  11. Meet up with friends I want to meet up with/ haven't met in ages
  12. Plan a movie outing for choc fac
  13. Pray and commit this 'next stage' of my life to God

And a hundred and one things besides.

I'm busy. I'm stressed. I'm obsessing over inconcievably minor details, preparing for the worst. I'm extrapolating into murky, uncharted territory even though I'm aware of how futile it all is.

.........................................................

Nightmare.

I dream helplessness, despair,

Loss.

I am running but going no where

In a room with no walls.

Someone chokes on his own tears

Groans gut-wrenching, twisting cries that no one else hears.

I cannot stomach the sound.

Weighs down

Heavy.

And all around there is:

Insurmountable grief,

Inescapable loneliness.

Guilt-stricken for not having blogged in a long time

Yet

Uninspired and unmotivated to continue.

What's the point of staccato sentences?

You can't fill a void with empty words.

Can't right wrong with wrong.

Me, sis, mum and grandma. Three generations packed into one car. And the conversation somehow had to centre around toilets.

Our resident chatterbox launched into a (very) vocal reflection on the merits of Singapore toilets compared to the ones (Health Hazards!, So she declared) in a certain other country (An understandably sensitive issue. We're not naming names here). Trouble was, no one reallly paid much attention to what she (oblivious to the rest of the world) had to say. So bad cancled out bad and the result was a neutral enough ride for everyone until...

The subject of toilets brought to mind a ticklish incident involving my little american cousin (only seven, bless her!) and the squat toilet in grandma's flat.

Grandma: Dominique, why? Don't you want to go pee pee? Go in lah!

Dominique (looking worried): Ehh.. No thanks.. I don't think I wanna go anymore.

Grandma: Huh? Go, go! Better go! Why you stand outside so long?

Dominique (frowning an expression of utter confusion/ distress): Po po! I can't go! I don't know how!

Grandma: Aiyo...!

She was so cute, we didn't know whether to laugh or to sympathise with her.

For my part, I can't help feeling squat toilets are a God-Send. They're clean (more hygenic than well-rubbed toilet bowl seats), straightforward and efficient to use.

And they're useful life-experience for even the most well-heeled traveller - You never know when (or where) you need to go!
