I visited Earth yesterday.
Explored China, Japan and
The Alps,
Trekked through a Tropical Rainforest,
Wandered through the chilly Laurentians and
Hung out with some penguins.

At night,
I concluded with laksa, beer and funny friends.

Up next:
One longish paper due tomorrow
A reading quiz on tuesday,
Biostats lab report due wednesday,
Biochem midterm exam on thursday
And Toronto and Niagra Falls over the weekend.
Exclamation mark!

Just back from touring quebec city with the MISN. Have acquired lots of photos and a stuffy nose from whale watching along the saint laurent river. Survived by nursing cups of coffee, tea and hot chocolate throughout. The weekend weather was mostly cloudy and overcast, with light to medium showers. Realized too late that I should have brought a thicker jacket. And a raincoat.
Apart from the wet and greyish (rather English) weather, it was a good trip. We had a great time. Now to catch up on a backlog of readings, papers, labs, reports and tutorials! Midterm exams next week, paper due this week and here I am uploading photos. So unprepared. So screwed :p

coffee post - i want mocha! now!
| You Are a Cappuccino |
You're fun, outgoing, and you love to try anything new. However, you tend to have strong opinions on what you like. You are a total girly girly at heart - and prefer your coffee with good conversation. You're the type that seems complex to outsiders, but in reality, you are easy to please |

8:20 AM
It is noon.
The air is heavy with imminent rain.
Here I sit
In my study,
At my desk,
Face to face with a screen,
Flickering.
The light outside
Is gradient,
Soft.
It
Filters in through horizontal blinds and past
That, the fence is a row
Outside my window.
Beams cross neatly
Like arms folding -
They fold in the air
Inside,
Frame see-through panels that
Pretend to extend
The space.
Outside,
There is Green,Wind,
Sounds, motion.
Which begs the question:
Is this
My room?
How strange it is!
To think the curious I once found common
And the foreign, familiar.
Wonder every where
Suspended.
But all the while the cold grows
And the counter in my study,
On my desk,
In my head,
Slips flickering digits
Shamelessly by:
I am all too aware
Of its infallible precision,
Its infernal regularity,
But still
Sit helpless against
The advance.

my wireless network connection has been a little wonky of late - it keeps dropping in and out! what happened to the excellent signal strength of yore? alas!
just some updates:
1. i've settled on a church to go to! it's a non-denominational church that's situated just two blocks down the street from mcgill. even though it's a family church, there are many students that attend as well so i'm pretty comfortable. i make new friends every week so that's really something to look forward to as i become a more regular face there.
2. i'll to be attending a bible study for international students every wednesday night for the fellowship, the chance to share, learn from and grow with the rest of the group. looking forward to their first meeting this week.
3. i'm part of a small group that meets on tuesday nights that aims to engage christians and non-christians alike in some solid bible study - we'll be tackling very practical, day-to-day issues and there'll be dialogue on how we can apply God's word to our lives. fantastic!
4. i'll be going to Quebec city with the mcgill international student's network over the coming weekend. they promised me whale watching so i'm pretty psyched!
5. and last but not least, apple picking! kent (my landlord and friendly montrealaise host-cum-tour guide) was kind enough to take the day off to drive sihui, jinglun, eunice (hello!) and me down south to the Eastern townships where they have lovely orchards for some serious apple picking! we saw excellent scenery, met pigs, cows, goats, horses and drove over two skunks (already dead) on the way. tout parce-qu'il fait beau ce week-end.
