Water

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit."

Intro (sing to the tune of wang fei hong)

When I go-o pubbing... (hia!)
I have a-a good time!
With my friends I drink and dr-ive,
The-en I-I crash.
The-en I-I die.

Cue jingle music

Verse 1
Let us all play our part
... (I forget)

Chorus
Take taxi, mrt, take a bus or lrt
Public transport's good for you
If I can use it,
You can too.

Verse 2
When you're on a public bus
You know you're not alone
The friendly driver will take you home,
Not to your gloomy tomb.

Repeat Chorus.

HAHA!! The intro is classic.

Responding to xiaoen's tag turned out to be an exercise in introspection. You really learn so much about yourself, reading the things you write. Thanks dear:) You made me think.

Here are the rules:

Rule 1: List 5 weird or random things about yourself. (I'll do better. I'll list six.)

1. When I discover an activity I really like, I get obsessed over it and find it very hard to stop thinking about it or working on it. The same goes for projects, research interests or any piece of work that I really "get into" and enjoy. I can keep at it for hours on end. And when I can't solve a problem or find a satisfactory answer to a question, it bugs me all the way to bed.

2. I sometimes sit erect in bed in the middle of the night while still deep in sleep. (My sisters have testified to this).

3. I derive great satisfaction from writing something thoughtful, intelligent and well-crafted. I like tracing how my style and expression has changed over the years, from its formative years in secondary school where it was mainly narrative to its present state today. Every stage of my education has seen my writing shift through frame after frame, filtered through the lens that is the sum of the societal, cultural and familial forces that have exerted influence on me. I'm still learning.

4. I unconsciously scratch my head when I'm really tired. It's an old childhood habit that has turned into a reflex action.

5. I sometimes mutter to myself in another language (French) just for fun. I'd say things just for the sake of saying them (in French). I'd make up imaginary scenarios in my head and have a long conversation with an imaginary "other" because I like hearing how the language sounds. I also sometimes speak in different accents just to humour myself.

6. I think I'm unbearably boring. I make up nonsense words (squidinkidoo, squidinkiday, poeframolvstine!) just because. I am an irreconcilable contradiction. I like making sense. I like making non-sense.

Rule 2: List 5 ppl whom u want to do the quiz.

I think two will do. san & ng xy.

Rule 3: Next, leave a comment "you are tagged" on their blog and ask them to read your blog for rules.

The rain just amplifies the bluish sort of mood I'm in.
Funny.
I usually like the rain.

Watered-down.
This semester, I expect to spend 4 out of 5 days a week, approximately 80% of my time hanging at the Old Admin Block/ Arts Canteen/ Central Library, which really isn't all bad, given the food, the atmosphere and the company.
But I already feel like a crummy science student as it is.
Made a diluted Concentration of three parts buffer to two parts stock solution.
I need a higher starting concentration for my stock.
I want my Science back like a bottle of 100% absolute ethanol by the start of sem 5.
No more dilution.

I've experienced first-hand the incredible motivating power of a tight deadline.

You give and take away.
My heart will choose to say:
Blessed be Your name!

I like my shirt; Think I shall wear it.
I shall wear my shirt; Think I like it.

Which comes first?
What's the difference?
Don't I really mean the same thing?

Reflection before Decision.
Decision before reflection.

Either way, it seems that the shirt is worn.

However, I find there is a critical difference between the two scenarios.

In the first, there is a higher chance that the shirt-owner derives satisfaction from wearing her shirt because she made the decision to wear the (aforementioned) shirt based on prior reflective affirmation of her fondness for the shirt.

In the second, there is the greater possibility of the shirt-owner regretting her decision to wear the shirt, upon later reflection. Apart from her hightened sensitivity to tiny imperfections (eg. spots, stains, badly tailored hemlines) on the shirt, it is also likely that she may suffer from general post-shopping depression, haunted by the sneaky suspicion that she never really liked the shirt much in the first place.

(Just for the record, I do like my shirt. It is both an iconic and ironic hot pink. I expect I shall wear it very soon.)

There's nothing quite like dropping in at an old friend's house;
Walking there, you're forced to re-trace a long-forgotten route.

You marvel at how long it's been since
The last time you visited
Almost every other day after school,
In breezier times, when Homework could be Over-And-Done-With in a jiffy,
The rest of the afternoon given to Bicycles and Grass,
Hide-And-Seek and Catching,
And the occasional game of Badminton -
(Freestyle, of course!)
And as you walk, you smile to yourself
A little.

Just for a moment, you wonder if you'll get lost -
Afterall,
It's been such a long time.

But you have faith in familiarity.
All of a sudden, you're filled with a new boldness;
You know the way to where you go.
