That a golliwog

Escorts the ladies to the ball.

Yet

Are but dolls

All the same.

In dolly high society,

Who is the true civil party?

For all fine clothes

And civil dress

Hide not heightened awareness

Of difference.

And in emphasizing cultural uniqueness,

Celebrating ethnic roots,

Calling it "racial sensitivity",

Are we not imagining

Division,

The very thing we fear,

Into existence?
