Not by might, not by power, but by the Holy Spirit.
Concerning our ministry and service in Christ’s name, we should focus on what God can do instead of what we can do. When we worry over our personal limits (limited time, limited energy, limited resources), we create a mental block that prevents us from seeing how big God really is – we all have our limits, but our God is limitless. He can do for us and through us what we on our own, in our finite capacity, could never do. Instead of setting limits as to what we can or cannot do for God, perhaps we ask instead for God to show us what He wants us to do, where he wants us to go, who he wants us to speak to, how we may be a blessing and an encouragement to all persons we come into contact with daily. If we are sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s prompting, if we trust and obey our God, He is faithful and will supply us with all our needs, just as He strengthened Paul through his life’s ministry, through trial and affliction.
When we allow God to speak to us and show us what is on His heart, we stop asking: “how much can I (afford to) do?” but instead, “what can I do to serve You?”
In everything, our ministry should stem from our love for God and for the world that He came to redeem and restore.
Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth
Does not become weary or tired.
His understanding is inscrutable.
He gives strength to the weary,
And to him who lacks might He increases power.
Though youths grow weary and tired,
And vigorous young men stumble badly,
Yet those who wait for the LORD
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.
Isaiah 40:28-31
What He says we will do, where He leads we will go.
May God give us His passion, as well as His compassion, to surrender ourselves - our lives, our all - to Him who surrendered everything for us.
