Water

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit."

Jeremiah 17:8,9

Rafters

On and on and ever onward,
Stronger currents sweep away.
Bound by timeless laws which govern
And bid us surely to obey.
Man's eternal drift dictated,
No more, no less,
No ties, no rest
Along the way.

When and where and why and how?
Which direction?
I don't know.
After all,
All else won't matter.
Random movement brought us here
And randomly we'll fade away.

... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

Some strayed,
Self-forayed.
Some lost sight of land
And others simply rode the crests,
From wave to bigger wave,
Till tide met rock
In an instant.

I mourn for those
Who've lost their way.
And so much more
For those who've stopped searching
For land altogether.

Someone had already
Paved the way to shore.
He went ahead of them
And called to them to follow.
But they could neither see
Nor hear him.
And they ignored

Crying seagulls
All around.
