Water

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit."

Jeremiah 17:8,9

just something my uncle said to me today that got me thinking and expanding on his idea. follow my argument please. it is a walk through my thought process.

people change.
according to circumstance,
with their collected experiences,
encounters with varied characters.

the environment moulds us,
influencing us in more ways
perceivable.

we make compromises,
we learn to be flexible,
we learn to adapt.

but why must we adapt?
do the "fittest" really survive?
who really "wins" in the end?

it all depends on how you define "win".
or on what you expect the ultimate prize is.

there may even come a day when
we loosen our grip on deepset beliefs,
trade in old ideals for new ones.

we might see a shift in the hierarchy.

new priorities?
a new philosophy?
perhaps.

relationships, therefore, change also
as people change.

because Life,
on this earth,
with all it can throw at us,
is indefinite
as far as human reason can venture.

the person you call "friend" today could
very well change.
with circumstance.
with experience.
with new encounters.
and you could very well
change too.

******************
perhaps "change" in this world
is really a reflection of how transient,

how fleeting

Life is,
presently.

******************

and if Life,
with all its changes
can offer nothing more than
indefinites,
shouldn't we all
be devoting all our energies,
all our efforts
to pursuing solid things?
shouldn't we all
be seeking certainty
in things eternal?

somewhere along the line,
we've got to make that reconciliation.
we've got to find that peace within ourselves.
we all need that assurance.

That's why it is such a joy to share:
My peace,
My unshakable assurance.

I look always to my God,
the Rock of my salvation,
whenever i get swept away
by changing currents.

He alone is God eternal,
the Alpha and Omega,
the Beginning and the End.
Ever constant,
Ever faithful,
Today, yesterday and tomorrow.
I place all my hopes and fears
In His hands.

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field" (Matthew 13:44).

I've found my God.
Even though Life seems
Indefinite,
He's definite.

And through His eyes,
there are no uncertainties.
Only promises of hope
And a future.

"For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)

The decision to Accept
or Reject
lies with us.
But that does not in any way
lessen divine sway
above all our thoughts, plans and actions.
Nor does this assertion conflict with
what I believe to be
Man's Free Will.

The mind-boggling complexity of it all:
Change versus constancy,
Indefinites versus the definite,
Man's will versus "Fate"
(or as I would call it, "God's will")
Only serves to highlight one more thing
I believe to be true:

We are fearfully and wonderfully Made.
We have the faculties of reason and logic
Although limited to human degree.
We were made in the likeness of God,
Just a little lower than the angels.
We were charged with Responsibility.

Hebrews 2:7, "You made him a little lower than the angels; you gave him a crown of glory and honour, and made him ruler over all the works of your hands."

Genesis 1:26, "Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

We have a fearfully wonderful Architect.
