Sanmei blogged about something that I've also been learning to appreciate more fully: the sacred institution of marriage and how it works out so beautifully in the long run for those who stay the course. There is something admirable, something so praiseworthy in a marriage that lasts. For, as san pointed out:
how on earth did all these couples manage to stay together for so long without driving each other crazy!? theres so much patience, tolerance and above all, love, for a marriage to be sustained.
That is why it fills me with a great deal of joy to see how the truth of 1 Corinthians 13 is lived out in the marriage of a certain elderly couple I know from church (OK la they're quite middle-aged. Just a little older than my parents).
Don't mess with love :)
Love suffers long and is kind;
Love does not envy;
Love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
Does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
Does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
Bears all things,
Believes all things,
Hopes all things,
Endures all things.
Perhaps this is why patience through trail and temptation is something of great worth in God's sight.
Love suffers long.
Love bears all things.
Love endures all things.
A marriage that lasts and grows is truly a marriage marked by Godly love.
